Turkey
Turkey is officially called the Republic of Turkey is part of the world known as Eurasia. The country stretches across the Anatolian peninsula located in southwest Asia and the Balkan section of southeast Europe. Turkey shares its borders with Bulgaria in the northwest, Greece in the west, Georgia in the northeast, Armenia, Iran and Nakhichevan which is part of Azerbaijanin the east and Iraq and Syria in the southeast. In addition to bordering eight other countries, Turkey also borders the Black Sea, the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. Turkey itself houses the Sea of Marmara.

Turkey itself is a democratic and constitutional republic. Their political system was established in 1923 after the fall of the Ottoman Empire after World War I. Turkey has over the years geared its country more towards the Western world but also keep relations with the Eastern part was well. The country is one of the founding members of the United Nations and they are a member of the Council of Europe. They are a member of NATO as since 1952.

The country of Turkey is more than 1600 kilometers long and 800 kilometers wide with this geometry Turkey is rectangle in its shape that is how it is able to border eight countries. The country is divided into seven regions, the Marmara, Aegean, Black Sea, Central Anatolia, Eastern Anatolia, Southeastern Anatolia and the Mediterranean. Mount Ararat is the highest point in Turkey which stands at 5,165m and is located in Eastern Anatolia.

Turkey shares its climate with Mediterranean climate making it very nice with hot and dry summers and wet and cold winters. In some parts of the country the winters can be more severe depending on the elevation and location. Turkey is one of those countries like United States, Canada and United Kingdom that have very distinct climates.

Though Turkey has very strict government say in the private sector participation with foreign trade and foreign investments through its industrial sector. In the 1980’s Turkey has began some strict reforms that were originally designed to change the economy from an insulated system to more of a private market bases model. Turkey began to grow and today is now part of the G20 which is the twenty largest economies in the world.

You may not think of Turkey as a vacation spot but millions of people vacation there every year. Many people come to Turkey for the Spa and health care facilities. Turkey’s largest city attraction is the capital of Turkey, Istanbul. It has a lot to offer tourist and it also has great historical significance. Things to see in Turkey would include the House of Virgin Mary, Church of Antioch, ruined cities of Cappadocia and places like Troy, Pergamon. Turkey also has some great beach spots, most of the resorts are located in the Aegean coast that sits along the Mediterranean border. Other major resort towns include, Bodrum, Fethiye, Marmaris, Kusadasi, Cesme, Didim and Alanya.
