Marmaris is a very crucial port city and a very popular tourist spot in the Mediterranean coast. It is located in southwest Turkey in the Mugla Province. The main income for this city is tourism. The city has about 350,000 people come during the tourist season which typically runs from March to October. Marmaris is one of the larger vacation resorts in the Mediterranean coast. In the summer months it has so many people that it looks like a very busy city. The Turquoise Coast stretches along the Mediterranean Sea and around to an extensive natural bay located at the foot of a mountain slope. The City is one of the best for sailing on the sea. They have modern marina’s that cater for private yachts and the Blue Voyage cruise businesses.

There is great shopping to be done here in Marmaris. They say visitors need to be aware and come prepared. It has been said that the shopping can get annoying with vendors touting, which is illegal in Turkey. They also have a lot of fake designer items that they pass off as real like Rolex. Even the fakes are of good quality in Turkey but try to get a deal because you know it is a fake. They do have great deals and prices are relatively cheap and you could probably get them to take more money off if you know how to haggle.

The best shopping to be done is one Carsi Market in Ottoman Castle; it is almost like a flea market. There are over 200 shops and it is open seven days a week. On Thursdays the market has locals who sell their fruit, vegetables and even fabric and clothes. If you want true designer clothing try Netsel Marina. The markets also offer duty free goods. Maybe shopping isn’t your thing and you just want to relax on the beach, there are many activities for vacationers to do. The beaches offer water sports or Banana Boat Rides, paragliding, scuba diving and there is also an Atlantis Water park. If you want to spend a day away from the beach you can go on horse safaris in the countryside or a jeep safari into country villages. After a day of jam-packed activities you want to relax with a great dinner. You can try the local fare of try something international. They offer Fish N Chips, Chinese food, German food and Italian food. You could try Turkish food of doner kebabs or seafood meze platters. Then after a great meal you want to spend a night out on the town. On Bar Street that is where all the night clubs and bars are located. These bars usually stay open till around 4am. There are all night restaurants open incase you want to grab breakfast before you head back to the hotel. All in all this could be one great vacation, however it should be noted that there have been some negative comments in certain areas. The Touts for everything from restaurants to shopping is very annoying and not to mention illegal. So if you see that happening and you want a great deal try to out up with it until you get what you want.
