Icmeler is a resort town located 8m to Maramis. The town itself has come into its own in the last 15 years or so. Icmeler sits on the southeast coast of Turkey where the Aegean Sea meets the Mediterranean. The resort town of Icmeler actually resembles a European style with many yachts sitting in the bay and many crowds of vacationers packed into seaside bars. In addition to being a party town it does have a beautiful scenic view with hills within pine forests that descend into the blue waters that surround the town.
This town is very close to another resort town of Marmaris which is only a couple of miles south of Icmeler. This town has a very relaxed vacation type atmosphere and it does not lack for any of the modern amenities. The town is very clean and extremely well maintained. The beaches are raked every day and there is not one drop of litter to be found anywhere. The town has beautiful gardens in front of the hotels and the like. It gives off a softer more relaxed view.

Icmeler has a great shopping mall; you can buy any type of souvenirs or any day to day essentials. There is a local market that is open on Wednesdays; it is a place where people looking for a bargain and hagglers can get great deals. You may not want to spend your days shopping so here are some beach activities that you can do. They offer water sports, jet skis and water skiing. There are also boat rips to the waterfalls of Pamukkale and the archeological historical site of Ephesus.
After a long day you may want to enjoy a great meal. Icmeler has some of the best restaurants in the country. You can indulge in local fare like Guvec, clay pot casseroles, kebabs and some fine Turkish wine. There are steak houses as well as Chinese, Indian and Italian food for those who like the other types of food. On Sundays, right above the undercover market is a place called Kingsland Chinese restaurant they service a British lunch.
Then after dinner, if you are looking for some nightlife you have come to the right place. There are no clubs in Icmeler but there are many pubs that are open late into the night. Icmeler keeps its nightlife very low-key but if you are looking for something more of a party then you can take a dolmus taxi into Marmaris. Icmeler has one nightclub called the Abone, they have disco music, karaoke and even live shows. Icmeler is a low key resort town, where people can go and have a good time and just relax in a very beautiful scenic town. That is truly a vacation. |
