Bursa is a city located in Northwest Turkey in the Bursa Province. The population in Bursa is approximately 1,200,000 people. It is Turkeys’ fourth largest city. This city was not always called Bursa, back in the old medieval days the city was called Prusa. Now goes by Bursa and has earned the nickname Yesil Bursa meaning Green Bursa because the city has many beautiful parks and gardens located throughout the city. The city on the other hand is also known for its ski resorts on the mountain of Uludag.
The earliest known site at this location of the city was Cius which actually Phillip V of Macedonia gave to King of Prusias I in 202 BC. In exchange for his help against the Pergamum. In turn the King renamed the city for himself Prusa. It later became a major city that was located and the end of Silk Road and ended up being the capital of Ottoman Empire. Bursa has been called home by some infamous historical figures. The Algerian resistance fighter Emir Abd el- Kader lived there from 1852 to 1855 and the Ayatollah Khomeini lived there in first years in exile around 1963.
The economy in Bursa is center of the Turkish Automobile Industry where the cars Fiat and Renault have relocated their factories. Coca-Cola and Pepsi and many other canned food factories are here in Bursa as well. Traditionally, Bursa was mostly famous for the fertile soil and agricultural activities the city provided but now because of big industries as we have just named are coming into the city, the smaller companies are closing or relocating.
Bursa also depends on tourism for a part of its economy. Burma has 2 attractions that other cities in Turkey do not have, one is that Bursa has one of the best ski resorts in the country and the other is Bursa or at the time Nicea was where the four bibles were united. There are also shopping centers and other small market places. Sports are also a big deal in Bursa, they have a professional soccer team called Bursapor, and they mostly compete in the Turkcell Super League. The team is also known as the Yesil Timsahlar or Green Alligators. Currently Bursa and Uludag are preparing to apply for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Uludag National Park, Cekirge, Armutlu, Oylat and Gemlik hot springs, Prusa City Walls, Iznik Necropolis, antique cities of Iznik, Nicaea, Mirlea and Karacabey.
